Using GamerDNA results as a guideline, DFC Intelligence charted the popularity of 360 games last month, and there are some interesting revelations. For one: Every person alive or dead, including the author of this post, is playing Modern Warfare 2 as we speak. Okay, so that's a slight exaggeration but it was very popular, with somewhere between 22 and 17 percent of GamerDNA's Xbox 360-playing subjects playing the game throughout all of November.
Also somewhat surprising is just how well Borderlands – which, let's be honest, didn't have the biggest marketing push – did, handily holding on to second place until the release of Left 4 Dead 2 and Assassin's Creed 2. Admittedly this list doesn't reflect the time spent by those who aren't online, but do you seriously care about those commoners anyway?

Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada wants Japanese gamers to try Western produced games, starting with the recent all-conquering Modern Warfare 2.
"Even now, there have been people in Japan using the label youge- (literally 'Western games') with a terribly discriminatory meaning," Wada explained in a recent interview with Japanese TV, which was spotted by Kotaku.
Perhaps Wada's enthusiasm might have something to do with Square Enix acquiring the Japanese publishing rights for Modern Warfare 2, a game which is probably about as Western as you could get.
"I'd like them to try it once," said Wada. "If they play it once, they'd realize how incorrect that label is."
It's the second time the relationship between Japanese and Western gaming has been raised this week, with Capcom's Jun Takeuchi recently saying development collaborations haven't gone smoothly because cultural differences get in the way of harmony.

Microsoft internal studio Turn 10 has announced that Forza Motorsport 3 has sold over one million copies worldwide during its first month of release.
Over 6.6 million hours of online play have been logged by Xbox Live players during that time, said the studio, and over 64 million connected sessions have been played. In total, 590 million miles (952 million kilometres) have been driven in the game.
The news came alongside that of a new 'Hot Holidays' car pack available now for 400 MS Points. More DLC will be released to coincide with the North American International Auto Show in Detroit early next year.

Bungie is still keeping quiet about plans for Halo: Reach, but has hinted that Halo 3: ODST's Orbital Drop Shock Troopers may return.
"It would be a shame if we made a game about the planet Reach - a place where Buck, the ODST's squad leader, was known to be - and not have him appear in some way, shape or form," Halo 3: ODST's writer and creative director Joseph Staten told G4.
Elsewhere in the same interview, Staten also said that there are still "smaller treats" that people haven't uncovered in ODST itself. "Folks looking forward to Halo: Reach would be wise to pay particular attention to the licence plates on New Mombasa's 'Genet' coupes," he noted.
So far all we really know about Halo: Reach is that it takes place around the time the colony Reach is attacked by Covenant, a period during which a number of Spartan-IIs - i.e. Master Chief-style supersoldiers - are active on the planet.
We also know to expect some form of beta next year prior to release, to which Halo 3: ODST buyers are guaranteed access. Bungie has yet to say what kind of beta that will be, however, despite occasional murmurings that Firefight may return.
For more analysis and speculation about what to expect from Reach, check out Digital Foundry's Halo 3: ODST tech analysis.
Or, if you've not bothered with ODST yet, you could always check out our Halo 3: ODST review.

Is GTA IV really too big to carry off DLC in the form of expansion packs The Lost and The Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony?
Well that radical view is the opinion of our old analyst chum Michael Pachter from Morgan Wedbush - who, in response to AmTech analyst Ben Schachter (are you following? Keep up) - said that he thought the original GTA IV was too big and that many players never actually finished it.
Speaking to VG247, Pachter said, ""Ben's right that the DLC disappointed, but I suspect that the reason is that GTA games are so massive that a substantial majority of the GTA audience hasn't finished the core game, so they don't feel especially compelled to buy the DLC"
"My guess is that fewer than 20% of GTA owners finished the game so fewer were interested in DLC."
Controversial stuff indeed. But what do you think CVG-ers? Did you play GTA IV all the way through and if you didn't, did it put you off buying either bit of the admirable DLC? Let us know in the comments field below.

Gears Of War movie producer Wyck Godfrey has revealed a little bit about the direction the Gears movie might take when it lands on the silver screen.
"The hard part is to make [Gears of War] into something that doesn't feel like a world torn asunder and people just in battle," Godfrey said (thanks Kotaku). "I think we really want to focus on the idea of a world that's running well and then it's Emergence Day."

If you read the first installment in the latest installment of "Pachter Predixx," you already know that the analyst's new report praises the PS3 for its resilience during these troubled times. According to the report, the PS3 saw an 85-percent year-over-year sales increase in November, while the Wii and Xbox 360 suffered sales declines. This reversal in fortune leads Pachter and his Wedbush associates to a surprising conclusion: "We think that the PS3 will again outsell the Xbox 360 in November and December, prompting a price cut some time early next year."
Pachter adds that while Microsoft "has the ability to lower price yet again," it probably won't do so until "it begins to lose significant market share to Sony." As with all conjecture -- even when delivered by professional conjecture conjurers -- we suggest considering Pachter's educated guess as just that: a guess.

There's good news and bad news about Metal Slug 7 on Xbox Live Arcade. The bad news is that we're pretty sure it's not coming out. The good news is that Metal Slug XX, the upgraded, multiplayer-capable PSP remix of the DS game, is replacing it in SNK's 2010 lineup. SNK also announced XBLA ports of two of its fighting games: King of Fighters 2002 Ultimate Match and Neo Geo Battle Coliseum. All three will join the weird King of Fighters shooting game, The King of Fighters Sky Stage, on XBLA in spring 2010.
These games have, so far, been announced only for Japan, but we are sure SNK will release them all worldwide -- if only because it would be a waste of effort to develop an XBLA title just for the few people in Japan who would buy it.

Ubisoft has sent word that it's working on a patch for Assassin's Creed 2 to fix the glitch that traps gamers in the hideout.
As reported last week, the error seems to arise if players turn off their console after saving their game upon passing Chapter 11. When reloading the game you find yourself stuck in the hideout unable to use the Animus. But Ubisoft is on the case.
"We are aware of this problem, and we are glad to say that it will be solved through our upcoming patch," said a rep on the official forums.
