Given that it's one of Namco Bandai's biggest game's so far this generation, it shouldn't come as a surprise to learn that a sequel is on the way for Dynasty Warriors: Gundam. The latest issue of Famitsu has a first report on the title, which is known in its home territory as Gundam Musou 2.
Typical of a Gundam update, Gundam Musou 2 will feature new Mobile Suits and characters. Famitsu reveals that Gundam Char's Counter Attack will join the game, bringing with it the RX-93 v-Gundam. Also new to the game are fights with giant Mobile Armor units, which tower over your own units.
While releases for the first entry in the series were scattered about between platforms, Gundam Musou 2 will arrive on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PS2 simultaneously. The game is set for a Japanese release on December 4.

The spiritual successor to Alien Hominid, Castle Crashers, has gone live on XBLA today for 1200 MS Points (around £10).
Hand drawn with a unique art style and utterly insane (just like AH), Castle Crashers promising feature list includes "magic, mayhem, floating face-biting bat buddies and fish-swords.
"Castle Crashers (rated T for Teen) features a unique mix of beat-em-up action along with mild RPG elements letting you hack, slash and smash your way to victory," explains the release.
AH was tough so we wouldn't be surprised if this is a total ball buster too. And if you're truly mental (or just well 'ard) it also features an Insane Mode, unlocked when you finish the regular mode.
There's also four-player deathmatches in there, online play, and the option to turn off the blood if you're pansy (or have strict parents).
Here, have some screens. Then get on it.

Microsoft has won its long-running legal battle against rumble specialists Immersion to the tune of USD 20.75m
The feud kicked off again last year, after Sony backpedaled and included rumble in its DualShock 3 pad. This activated a clause in a contract which stated that Immersion would have to pay Microsoft USD 15m if Sony also used the rumble technology in its pads.
But when Immersion refused to pay up, Microsoft sued. Immersion then issued a counterclaim alleging that Microsoft had breached a confidentiality agreement between the two companies. You guys.
Calm was restored yesterday, however, after a US court ruled in Microsoft's favour. Now Immersion has agreed to cough up USD 20.75m. Happy days. For Microsoft.
In the spirit of peace and love, Microsoft has even allowed Immersion to join its Certified Partner Program. Fancy that.
"We are pleased to resolve our outstanding dispute with Microsoft and to put this litigation behind us," said Immersion president and CEO Clent Richardson. Nice name, Clent.
Likewise, we are pleased to no longer have to write about Immersion's petty legal spats with console manufacturers.

Ubisoft has confirmed to Eurogamer the first people to pre-order Tom Clancy's EndWar for Xbox 360 will get access to the open beta.
As reported by IGN, Ubi is billing the beta as a "VIP demo". Those taking part will be able to try out the multiplayer element of the game and help out with an online stress test.
The VIP demo will begin in early October. Access tokens are limited and will be dished out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tom Clancy's EndWar is out this autumn on PS3 and Xbox 360.

An issue of Dengeki PlayStation that goes on sale August 29th in Japan, Final Fantasy XIII director and writer Motomu Toriyama and FFXIII Versus director Tetsuya Nomura talk about the possibility of Japan getting a Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 version. Nomura says that he himself was "surprised" at the FFXIII Xbox 360 Asia version news, saying that Microsoft's comment ("It would be nice if the game came out") was taken to mean that it was actually confirmed for Asia. More interesting than that cluster**** is Toriyama's comment about whether or not Final Fantasy XIII will be released in Japan on the Xbox 360 platform:
There will absolutely not be an Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII for Japan.
Obviously Toriyama is not mincing words. He's being crystal clear. But, really, why not release it on the Xbox 360 in Japan? Sales of the game in both America and Europe (in multiple languages) on both platforms are likely to exceed the Japanese sales markets — so what's the point of no mulit-platform for domestic consumers? From a business stand point, Toriyama's statement seems rather odd.

Correct us if we're wrong, but the Lian Li XB01 chassis for the Xbox 360 marks a notable departure for the case mod industry. Far from making the 360 "more badass" or "more laptopy," the Lian Li XB01 merely aspires to make the 360 what it should've been out of the gate: cool and quiet(er). The folks at bit-tech.net put one through its paces, and have discerned that it "looks pretty pimp." They do note that the $150 case isn't built with quite as high of standards as Lian Li is known for, and there were a few minor quibbles, but once they tossed the Xbox 360 innards inside and booted her up, it became clear what the XB01 is all about: the 360 run silently without a disc, and only makes a bit of noise with a DVD in. Unfortunately, as soon as you toss a game in the drive noise is once again deafening. Oh well, maybe next year we'll get a 360 that doesn't require earplugs to play... and at least hard drive-based games are right around the corner.

If you're becoming increasingly weary of the ongoing saga between Take Two and Electronic Arts, you'll no doubt be relieved to hear that there will be a brief respite on the will they/won't they takeover bid as the two have just signed a confidentiality agreement that disallows either from disclosing any agreements or discussions pertaining to the bid.
"EA does not intend to make any further announcements regarding the status of any discussions or negotiations with Take-Two unless and until discussions between EA and Take-Two have been terminated or such parties have entered into a transaction," said the company in a statement picked up by Reuters.
EA's last bid, valued at around $2 billion, expired recently with Take Two's Strauss Zelnick believing that the Grand Theft Auto publisher is being repeatedly undervalued, but the confirmation that talks between the two are continuing in secret suggest that EA's interest in Take Two hasn't waned.

In recent time, MR asked Global Marketing Director, Albert Pennello, regarding the future of Backwards Compatibility for the 360. While Rare fans got what they wanted, his answers were very interesting. He insisted that if there has been a title that we haven't seen backwards compatible yet, it's because that there have been technical difficulties putting them on the service. "People are moving on," he said, "would you rather have those guys working on that or doing something new?" in reference to the new Xbox Live Avatar-filled Dashboard.
What does this have to do with Xbox Originals, you may ask? Through different insider sources, MundoRare can confirm that Xbox Originals, the service that re-releases some Xbox 1 titles on Xbox Live, won't be around for the same reason that Backwards Compatibility will most likely never see another update again. "I think they are pretty much done with that," another source told us.

Considering the size of some of the robots in Supreme Commander, it's worrying to see the 360 port walking right under our radar.
Even more worrying is the fact that it's out in a few weeks' time and we've not really seen anything of it.
Check out some screens we found below. And look out for the review soon.

Capcom's retro reimagining of the NES classic Bionic Commando has been keenly met, shifting some 130,000 copies since its release on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and PC a mere seven days ago.
A canny reprising of the classic franchise before it's treated to a brand new outing early next year, Bionic Commando Rearmed has proven a hit with critics, scaling the heights of our own scoring system with a mighty 9.4. Producer Ben Judd seemed suitably ebullient when breaking the news on the game's official blog.
"Basically, we have set a standard in digital gaming. Consumers voted with their dollars. They have sent the message loud and clear - We are tired of meta-emulated crap; we want the titles of yesteryear to be paid the proper respect; we want them done right, and if the price is right, we'll buy. The bar has been raised."

Here are seven brand new shots of the picturesque world of Fable II, which was shown at the Leipzig Games Convention last week.
Unfortunately, the presentations for the game didn't actually show anything particularly new, but we did get to have a quick poke around one area in its vast world, and see the drop-in co-op gameplay in action.
The game, which MS promises will be the "must-have blockbuster for 2008" is set to launch on October 24 in UK, three days after the US.

Remember back in February when Gearbox Software big boss Randy Pitchford teased his studio's next project as something "big"? Well, not just "big" but something that was "even bigger" than anything Gearbox is currently working on? Well, the kids at OXM sure remembered and they sent their spies deep undercover into Gearbox territory and came back with one heck of a rumor for their October issue: Gearbox is working on Halo 4 as a launch title for the next Xbox (NextBox?).
With Bungie admittedly uninterested in creating Halo games ad nauseum, and Gearbox one of the industry's top FPS developers, we've certainly heard crazier rumors. And there are few licenses that would get a studio chieftain to inadvertently slam his own games in development. Whatever the project is, Pitchford has said he'll be directing it himself, adding, "When you find out what this is, you'll likely agree that I can't oversell this one." Nope, you probably couldn't Randy. Overselling Halo is Microsoft's job anyway; you guys just make with the shooting of the aliens ... no, the other aliens.

via Eurogamer
Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has told Eurogamer that he looks forward to a day when people stop asking him whether MGS4 is coming out on Xbox 360.
"I've been doing a lot of interviews and stage shows, and half the questions are like 'Will MGS4 be coming out on 360 or other formats?', and in the near future I hope they'll ask me about Metal Gear, about us, about our future projects, and will stop caring about the hardware," Kojima told Eurogamer in an interview published today.
Pressed on MGS4's exclusivity and the possibility of an Xbox 360 port, Kojima reiterated that the PS3 had been chosen because he believed that the series' success had been entwined with PlayStation's, and admitted that "because MGS4 was optimised for the PS3 it is probably not possible".
"But, you know, what kind of disturbs me sometimes, because a lot of people ask me about this PS3/360 question, is that it's not about the hardware - I want people to look at the game itself. Sometimes I even feel like it should be on a PC so that people don't ask me about hardware and platforms," he said.
Asked whether he would develop multiplatform games in future, Kojima said: "If we're talking about the future - not MGS4, but my future titles, if we're referring to that - if the hardware technology rises then obviously, you know, it won't be based on the hardware anymore. Probably I will first create the software and then, um, it's a strange word to say, but port to other hardware if that technological ability rises in all areas."
It's an approach that's already reaping rewards for others, including fellow Japanese developer Capcom, whose teams are known to develop games using an engine running on the PC platform, which can then be ported to PS3 and 360 - Resident Evil 5 being the latest example.

Newly released today:
Prior to developing Clannad, Key has released two immensely popular dating simulation games, Kanon and Air. While Kanon sets stage in a snowy city, Air takes place in a coastal area in the summer, Clannad starts at spring term in a school located on the top of the slopes.
The hero Tomoya is a delinquent with a strained relationship with his father. When he gave up basketball, one of his passions in life, after wounding his shoulder during a fight with his parent, he has lost his aims. Unwilling to go to school, he dawdled at the bottom of the slopes only to meet Nagisa, a girl who is just as hesitant as he is about going to school.
Nagisa has been sick all her life, and during her third year of high school, she has to take a year off to nurse herself back to health. Due to this, she is not only a year older than the rest of her classmates, since her friends in her class have all graduated, she is all alone in school.
Key specializes in interweaving all sorts of human relationships into their plot, aside from the growing romance between Tomoya and Nagisa, the protagonists' relationships with their parents and friends are included to form a well rounded and touching story.

Microsoft's Games Convention floor space was dominated by music games. It was, after all, the "Xbox 360 Summer of Music" according to the vinyl banner that loomed overhead. But tucked away next to Disney's Sing It! was Lode Runner, the remake of the classic puzzle platformer, announced for Xbox Live Arcade earlier this year. Having played every other Xbox 360-bound offering on hand at events prior, we decided to dig into it.

Microsoft's just went on the record with RPG-TV and said the Fall Xbox 360 Dashboard Update will be hitting in November, which technically is still a part of Fall. Previous updates have also been released in late November (as close to Winter as you could push it while still being Fall), but all those new features coming this time might be cause for delay, even though they skipped the Spring update for this reason. Seriously Microsoft, will we have to wait another three months to get the ability to make a little avatar that looks like ourselves? You're forcing us to turn on our Wiis?
