Banjo-Kazooie, the classic Rare N64 platformer, will be downloadable on Xbox Live Arcade for 1,200 MSP ($15) on November 26, Microsoft has confirmed.
Don't feel like waiting that long? Gamers who pre-order the upcoming Xbox 360 title Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts will get a code good for a free download of the original two weeks before the game is available to the masses on XBLA.
Banjo-Kazooie and Nuts & Bolts will feature a "Stop n Swop" element, originally conceived by Rare in the N64 days, that will allow players to unlock extra content in the newest game by playing the original. Rare and Microsoft also confirmed that Banjo-Tooie, the second game in the franchise, will be coming to XBLA in early 2009.
Check IGN's Xbox Live channel tomorrow for a full preview of the XBLA version of Banjo-Kazooie.

Because we know you want them, here's a trio of new Far Cry 2 videos we recorded using our own skills from the Xbox 360 version.
You can see the first batch of Far Cry 2 videos we captured in our hands-on impressions here, which go into detail on how we're surprised to find Ubisoft's sequel isn't, in fact, a quick imitation, but it's one of the most exciting FPS games of the year.
CVG's country cousin PC Gamer published the first review, which you can read about here. Look for the full game in the shops on October 24.

The second quarter has come and gone, and while our XBLA download queues have be left decidedly Peggle-free, PopCap's Greg Canessa remains adamant that the addictive puzzler is still on its way. In a recent interview, the PopCap exec blamed the game's tardiness on the addition of further polish and improvements, including 4-player local and online multiplayer over Xbox Live. Goodbye, free time!
Canessa also let slip Peggle's XBLA pricing of 800 Microsoft Points ($10), and while a firm release date for the title still remains up in the air, puzzle addicts can rest a little easier knowing that their addiction-of-choice is still expected to drop like so many colored pegs sometime before the year is out.

Posted at Bungie.net:Today marks the long awaited arrival of “TU2” for Halo 3. Despite plenty of rumors to the contrary, this update is not ushering in a new “BR spread,” nor does it incorporate enemy AI and campaign components to the Forge map editor. However, beyond the behind-the-scenes technical implications, there are two major components for fans to note.
New Achievements!
The most exciting piece of the update for many of you is the addition of TEN brand new achievements to Halo 3. We’ve covered these in detail in prior weekly updates but in case you’re just joining us, you forgot, or you’re just too lazy to go back and read… here’s the full list:
* Vidmaster Challenge: Lightswitch (0 points) – Get to the rank of Lieutenant in any playlist in the new EXP progression system.
* Vidmaster Challenge: 7 on 7 (0 points) – Enter into any ranked or social playlist with 7 EXP on the 7th of the month.
* Vidmaster Challenge: Annual (0 points) – After 9/25/08, complete Halo on 4-player Legendary LIVE co-op, with Iron, and everyone in Ghosts.
* Double Double (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get two Double Kills during any ranked or social match.
* Poor Yorick (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 3 Oddball melee kills during any ranked or social match.
* Came…From…Behind (50 points) – On a Legendary map, get 3 assassinations during any ranked or social match.
* Defend This (50 points) – On a Legendary map, get a flag melee kill during any ranked or social match.
* Flag Dropped (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 2 flag carrier kills during any ranked or social match.
* Road Rage (25 points) – On a Legendary map, get 5 Warthog chaingun kills during any ranked or social match.

A list of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts' achievements has leaked onto the internet, revealing all sorts of spoilerific nuggets if info.
First up is word that the game appears to have 131 Jiggies and at least five 'worlds' to be explored.
There's also a gym in the hub world, Showdown Town, where you can "train" Banjo, so those hoping for a more traditional platforming experience might not be jipped yet.
The Achievements list also gives further explanation on how the revamped Stop 'n' Swop feature, which was originally planned for the N64 games, transfers data between Banjo XBLA and Nuts & Bolts.
By playing Banjo XBLA it looks like you unlock a "Stop 'n' Swop crate" that needs to be taken to Mumbos Motors, no doubt unlocking special vehicle parts.
We also like Rare's participation in the never-ending Sony dig with a "Massive Damage" achievement.
Read the full list of Achievements over on Xbox360Achievements.org.

Xbox Live is going down! On Monday, September 29th at 12:01 AM, the Xbox Live service will be coming down for maintenance that could last up to 24 hours, according to Microsoft's Larry Hryb. The outage will affect the Xbox Live and My Xbox sections of the of Xbox.com as well, and forums will be set to read only for the duration. It's all in preparation for the impending launch of The New Xbox Experience, but only in preparation for it, so don't expect to hop back online when the service goes up and get to work crafting your shiny new avatar. Enjoy the old Xbox experience while you still can!

With Ensemble now disbanded, Gamasutra reveals one of its big projects that never saw the light of day: a Halo MMO. According to various reports, it appears that the game was in development for some time during 2006 and 2007 before being canceled. Seen above, a shot of the UI and an action pose of a Spartan duel-wielding. The design, from what little we can see of it, borrows a lot from World of Warcraft's simplicity and (judging by the dual-wield screenshot) hokeyness.
We understand there are reasons for cancellations, but this seems like a money printer on par with Pokémon and Blizzard's aforementioned MMO, regardless of quality. As Microsoft's Phil Spencer recently mentioned to GamesIndustry.biz, there are "more than two or three teams" working on Halo projects at the moment, so the MMO concept might not be entirely dead.

In my browsing, I noticed a couple more odd Western games being released in Japan. I've been covering this for a while, so why not?
First there's Cyberfront, part of the trend of dating sim companies to release U.S. games - the company is bringing MLB 2k8 for PS2/3, and 360. Multi-platform! Crazy. But Japan loves baseball, so this isn't the oddest pickup.
This I found even odder. Bethesda has a small publishing outfit in Japan - and it's through this that 2K has released Bully for both PS2 and 360. Not the Wii version! The product description makes multiple references to GTA, reminding readers that the same company makes that game...while also making sure to mention that this is an "American school comedy." Odd positioning. Check the official site for the trailer, which is simply subtitled.

G.rev has put up some Senko no Ronde Duo screens on the official site after the AM show. Check now, because this link will likely disappear, as they call it a 'temporary' site, showing screens that are from a 15% complete build. Very interestingly, they call it the "Jamma version," indicating firstly that they're no longer using Naomi as the main platform for one thing, and that there is another version, for another (most likely referring to a 360 port?). Thanks to Rid for the link.

After six great wars, darkness has once again fallen on this earth and it is up to the next generation of heroes to rescue their land from the clutches of evil and show their people the light. Each of the four heroes are fighting for their own objectives, some of them are fighting for justice, some for their instincts and others for ascertaining their objectives.
This beautiful fighting game differs from games of the same genre by making use of RPG elements like having a large scale story mode. The characters are fully voiced, animated and are very expressive, you can see the look of concentration or fear on their faces when they launch special attacks or are about to be hit. The game runs on high resolution screens in the arcades and is going to push the limits of your third generation consoles. With a network mode, you can fight matches with people from all over the world.

Lines you're likely to hear from this week's Xbox Live Arcade release, Duke Nukem 3D:
"What are you waiting for? Christmas?"
"It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum. And I'm all out of gum"
"I ain't afraid of no quake!"
"What are you? Some bottom-feeding, scum sucking algae eater?"
"Hmm, that's one "Doomed" Space Marine."
"I should have known those alien maggots booby trapped the sub."
"And I thought 10 guns was hard to carry!"
"Damn! I'm looking good!"
"Nobody jacks with our Independence!"
"I can't wait to play myself in Duke Nukem Forever, coming Fall 1998."
Killing alien scum will cost you 800 ($10).

Survival action game Hydrophobia has been running silent and deep since it was unveiled over a year ago for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Recently, Sony's "semi official" Euro blog ThreeSpeech did a three-part piece on the game. Now, PS3 Attitude has an interview with the developers at Blade Interactive, revealing that the game already has a location all set for the sequel. Could we kindly get a release date for the first one?
Whereas the first Hydrophobia takes place on a sinking ship, The Queen of the World (loosely based on the Freedom Ship), the sequel will occur in a "drowned Boston." We'll now have to wait and see if the first game is any good before we commit our excitement to a sequel taking place in PAX's 2010 East Coast location.

Microsoft has boasted of ‘strong momentum’ following last week’s UK price cuts – and announced that it has broken the six million sales mark in Europe.
The platform holder brought the entry-level SRP for the Arcade console down to £129.99 on Friday, with the standard 60GB 360 priced at £169.99 - leaving it with two consoles under Wii's bargain £179.99 pricetag.
The company also cut the price of its 120GB Elite to £229.99.
Chris Lewis, Vice President, Interactive Entertainment Business EMEA, said: “We’re very excited that more consumers in Europe are joining the ever-growing Xbox 360 community.
We’re now the best-value next-gen console on the market with an entry-level ERP of £129.99, and consumers have clearly responded to that offering.
“We’re supporting this momentum by putting launch-level investment into a European advertising campaign, launching this week, which shows how Xbox 360 is changing the way consumers experience entertainment. With the New Xbox Experience on the horizon, and great titles like Lips, Scene It?; You’re In The Movies, Fable 2, and more, there’s never been a better time to jump in to all that Xbox 360 offers.”
