The Unreal Engine 3-powered Rogue Warrior has been officially unveiled in the latest issue of Xbox 360: The Official Xbox Magazine.
Featuring four-player Live co-op and space for up to 24 players online, Rogue Warrior is aiming directly for Ghost Recon's counter-terrorist comfort zone - especially with its online play over Xbox Live.
Bethesda and Zombie are touting a multiplayer tiling system, which allows players to build multiplayer maps from sections of other maps. According to the magazine, each level is made up from three sections - you choose one, the other team picks another, the then centre section is plucked out of the list at random by the Xbox 360 (from over 200 combinations).
Opposing teams won't know what the other team has picked until they're in the game. The main aim of this feature is to stop players getting bored of playing on the same maps, according to the makers.
The only release offered was '2007'.

The 360, PS3 and PC adventure game, Assassin's Creed has been delayed until 'fiscal 2007/2008'. When contacted, Ubisoft wouldn't say anything at all about why two of its biggest games have been delayed.
This means it'll likely be the end of next year before one of our most anticipated titles reaches our HD tellies, but on the bright side at least Ubi will be able to get ample polishing time in, so that it lives up to all of obscenely-high expectations.
Additionally, WWII stalwarts will be disappointed to hear that Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway has been pushed backed to the same mysterious "fiscal 2007/2008", but we're sure that would benefit from a bit of extra work as well.
Still, how could we stay mad with Assassin's Creed producer, Jade Raymond staring at us with her dark, forgiving eyes?....

Phantasy Star Universe Realizes Retail
October 24, 2006 - Today SEGA announced that Phantasy Star Universe has shipped in North America for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and PC. This Universe is big enough for two different RPG experiences -- a single-player action adventure spanning multiple planets, and an online multiplayer mode that allows gamers to meet other players, strike up alliances, and embark on a variety of online quests.
Developed by Sonic Team, Phantasy Star Universe offers long-time fans the more traditional single-player experience that has been missing from recent games in the series. Our hero is Ethan Waber, a 17-year old cadet who begins his epic journey when a mysterious life form known as THE SEED invades his homeworld. The solo adventure features more than 40 hours of gameplay and a story that tugs at the heartstrings.
The original Phantasy Star debuted in 1988 on the SEGA Master System. In 2000, Phantasy Star Online was the first console RPG to offer an online experience. The online mode in Phantasy Star Universe enriches the single-player story and gives gamers the opportunity to create their own characters from a range of races and explore all three planets in the Gurhal system. Players can travel with their friends as a squad of six adventurers, or they can be a moody loner and go it alone.
To take the adventure online, you'll need a Guardians License, which will run you $9.99 a month, or six months for $49.99

Electronic Arts has released a number of weapons and items to purchase on Xbox Live - including in-game currency.
Costing between 40 and 150 Microsoft points for in-game money (about 1.30 GBP), 100 points (0.85 GBP) each for a selection of level 4 weapons or 800 points (6.80 BGP) for "The Don Collection", which offers five weapons, a bag full of in-game cash and number of other items otherwise available for purchase separately.
However, there is a "MobFace Apparel Bundle" available as a free download, which for a limited time offers you a leather jacket, two hats and two sets of glasses.
The arrival of the downloads will no-doubt upset many gamers, who in the past have complained that we're being made to hand over cash for, what in past would have been available via simple codes or cheats.

Bethesda has set its media phasers to stun this morning, and blasted a fresh dose of Star Trek screenage directly into our retinas. Or our screenshot sever, whatever.
Legacy, the PC and Xbox 360 action-strategy opus, suitably impressed attendees at this year's E3, and considering it's being worked on by the blokes that did Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, we're considering being labelled Star Trek nerds just to get a our hands on Bethesda's latest slice of gaming goodness.
For more info on Star Trek: Legacy we direct you to its official website. Apparently it's due out in "autumn 2006".

Still warm from EA's great screenshot-spawning machine, here's a roster of new Need for Speed: Carbon screenshots showing off the racer's fancy Xbox 360 visuals and rickety canyon racetracks.
For immediate enlightenment on NFS's latest stab at Christmas supremacy, you can check out our recent preview by clicking right here, and also check the abundance of additional media we've got hanging loose on the right of this very page.
Look for more content (including a very special Carbon competition) in the next few weeks running up to release, on all formats excluding PS3 obviously, which is March next year.

Microsoft's Xbox Live servers must be feeling the heat this week. No sooner has the dust settled from the arrival of long-awaited Arcade game Lumines Live! and various demos, than a playable demo of Ubisoft's tactical shooter Rainbow Six Vegas makes its way onto the service.
Weighing in at a respectable 477MB, we're reliably informed that the demo lets you shoot through an under-construction casino, tagging terrorists and generally waving the flag for the good old US-of-A.
But unfortunately for you lot over the pond, the demo is not available for download in Canada, Mexico or the USA due to a cover disk deal with the North American Official Xbox Magazine.
Don't worry though - we're sure the hoodlums on our forum will let you know just how brilliant it really is.

Blitz Games, the developer behind three Xbox 360 games to be sold in Burger King restaurants across the US, has revealed there's a strong chance the games will appear in Europe soon.
Philip Oliver, CEO of Blitz has told GamesIndustry.biz that talks are currently underway to bring the titles to regions outside of the US.
"If we're lucky we'll see them in this country as well," said Oliver. "It's not confirmed yet, it's in discussion. For all territories, Burger King marketing works independently in all regions, so it's being evaluated."
The three different titles will be available for Xbox and Xbox 360 in the US this November and retail for US $3.99.
Oliver brushed aside cynicism directed at the developer for creating games based on such a license, seeing it as a natural evolution for advertising in games while providing good value for money for the consumer.
"We're always trying to be on the cutting edge whenever we talk about any game initiative. About a year ago we were talking about advertising in games and there's a very big market there. Basically this gives us an absolutely massive profile in that market. Advertising is an excepted part of media. Magazines, websites, TV, films – they have product placement all over the place," he commented.
"Are the games good fun? Yes. And they are extremely good value for money. They're not going to be Halo or Gotham-beaters, let's be honest. These games are much better than anybody will expect. They're half way between Live Arcade titles and fully boxed games. In fact, if they were retail boxed products they should retail at around US$ 20," said Oliver.

We’re titling this as a rumor, but even so, sources have revealed to Game Informer Online that there will be a Halo 3 demo released over Xbox Live in the first half of 2007. Obviously Microsoft hasn’t revealed any details yet, but we wouldn’t be too surprised if something was dropped in the second or third week of November. You know, just to mess a bit with the PlayStation 3 and Wii launches.
We contacted Microsoft to confirm this rumor, but they responded with the usual statement that Microsoft doesn’t comment about speculation or rumors.
Is it shocking that Microsoft would release a Halo 3 demo? Not so much. Is it surprising that they’d announce the first details to mess with Sony and Nintendo? Not at all.
The big question is, will the Halo 3 demo be the first demo that Microsoft will charge for? We’re also putting our money on that, too. If there’s one game that Xbox 360 owners are waiting for it’s Halo 3, and regardless of how much or how little the demo consists of, Microsoft could charge and no one would really care.

The latest Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 trailer seems to have been made just to drop the "we only play it for the volleyball and dating-game elements" case out from under us - no gameplay, and all notorious 'gravure' pose scenes. Hit the movies tab above for the scandalous footage.
So, if you're game for watching the cast roll in the sand, pole-dance, torment crabs, bob on inflatable killer whales and look vulnerable in the jungle, this is the flick for you.
If nothing else, you can check out the 360-powered cloth physics and self-shadowing, and wince slightly at the DOA4-style writhing mass of cables that pass for the girls' hair. All the more reason to play the close-cut-bonced Christie or Lisa, then.
Due out in late November across the pond, we're confident the incredibly addictive collectathon elements have received as much attention as the photo shoot scenes. We'll let you know as soon as we've sampled a few of DOAX2's pina coladas under a hi-def sunset.

Last week a Korean gaming site carried pictures from a presentation on Xbox 360 peripherals at Microsoft's X06 Korea event. The snapshots included art of the Xbox Live Vision camera, a 256MB memory card, the Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver that lets players use the system peripherals on a PC without cords, and an Xbox 360 hard drive with "100GB" written across the top.
The news was picked up and reported around the Web, and Microsoft today finally addressed the issue directly. A representative for the company passed on the following statement:
"The reference to a 100GB hard drive in a recent presentation in Korea has been misleading, and in fact we have no plans to bring a 100GB hard drive to the market. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused."
The representative could not explain exactly how the reference was misleading. When asked if the company had plans for a larger Xbox 360 hard drive, he did say it was "always a possibility."
"The device is modular, and there's the possibility that different hard drives will be available in the future," the representative said. "To reiterate, we have no plans to announce such an accessory in the near future."

Midway's Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 has shown up on Xbox Live Arcade over the weekend, giving you the chance to hook up with your friends and then rip their spinal chords out for kicks (or spasms).
Featuring 22 fighters, the usual array of leaderboards and achievements, and a new Challenger Versus Mode, which allows you and three friends to play a "winner-stays-on" style tournament, UMK3 costs 800 Microsoft points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30).
Obviously there's a trial version available too, as with all Live Arcade games, and we'll be bringing you a review just as soon as we can prise out beat-'em-up loving correspondents away from Tekken: Dark Resurrection for long enough.

After recently coughing up a release date for every other platform version of the highly anticipated WWII shooter, poor old Xbox was left out in the cold leaving owners of the big black box crying in a heap. Call Of Duty 3 was shaping up to be the last great game on Microsoft's first-ever console...
But the Xbox release is still on the cards we've learnt, although if you're looking to pick it up this Christmas it might be a good idea to pre-order it. Activision has struck a deal with high street retailer GAME to offload its remaining roster of Xbox games. Stocks of each game will be pretty limited compared to the big brother COD3 release on Xbox 360, we're told.
An Activision spokesman told CVG, "Call Of Duty 3 is a GAME exclusive in the UK, as is Tony Hawk's Project 8 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance on Xbox too."

Xbox Live group marketing manager takes pop at Sony saying there's "little new news in Sony's online announcements"
Xbox Live boss Aaron Greenberg has taken blows at Sony's PlayStation 3 online service, calling it "yet another knockoff."
Speaking in an interview with Gamespot, the Xbox Live marking manager said, "we're flattered that we've created a service that is breeding yet another knockoff", adding that he felt there was "little new news in Sony's online announcements".
"We will compete with them in the same way we have for the last four years," he said, "by out-innovating and focusing on community, value, and the content that gamers want. They offered basic free matchmaking on the PS2, and from what we can tell, their online story has not evolved much."
Greenberg's comments come hot on the heels of Sony's recent reveal of its PS3 online plans, where it divulged details on the PlayStation online store, no-cost online gaming and text and voice messaging, all for absolutely noubt.
But going back to Microsoft's online service for a moment, Greenburg says we should expect to hear more on the forthcoming Xbox 360 autumn dashboard update "soon", as well as hinting at further backwards-combatability updates for the console in the near future.

"You've just got to let your baby get on the school bus and hope for the best," says lead designer
Not long now - less than four weeks - until Gears of War hits our HD tellies. Lead designer and man of style Cliff "CliffyB" Bleszinski has revealed that his work on Gears is now "more of less done."
Speaking via his personal blog, CliffyB said: "My job as designer of Gears of War is, well, more or less done. I can't speak to the status of gold or shipping but those of you familiar with development know that at a certain point you've just got to let your baby get on the school bus and hope for the best."
CliffyB recently revealed the 360 shooter will ship with ten multiplayer maps instead of the originally announced eight, pleasing chainsaw-toting deathmunchers everywhere.
More on Gears soon.

Microsoft has confirmed that plans to produce a film based on hit Xbox title Halo are still going ahead, despite the decision of Universal and Fox to pull out of the project.
The movie studios were due to fund and distribute the Halo film, on the understanding that Microsoft Game Studios and developer Bungie would have almost complete creative control over the project.
But last week Fox and Universal demanded that their deals be improved - and when executive producers Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh refused, the studios pulled out.
Now Microsoft has released an official statement via the Bungie website which reads: "We are disappointed that Universal and Fox wanted to significantly renegotiate the financial points of the deal. But the Halo franchise is hugely popular and our goal remains the same - to find a partner that shares our passion and will creatively collaborate with us to best represent the story and spirit of the Halo franchise.
"Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and the rest of the creative team are dedicated to ensuring the Halo movie becomes a reality," the statement continues.
"We are already in discussions with potential partners who recognise the value of the Halo brand and its appeal to consumers worldwide."
Bungie has also reaffirmed its commitment to the Halo film, stating, "Frankly we’re interested in making the best movie, and it’s possible that a partner who’s more concerned with numbers might not be the best partner for what’s more vitally a creative process.
"Suffice it to say that Peter, Neill, Fran and Microsoft are as excited and dedicated as ever and WETA continues the pre-production process."
More news is due to be announced "in the next few weeks".
