In addition to confirming what we learned this morning, 1UP has revealed that you will be able to "save your own movies from Halo 3's single- and multiplayer gameplay." Now it will be even easier to share your new Warthog-jumping record or Human cannon hilarity with the rest of the world. Will we be able to share our machinima masterpieces over Xbox Live?
1UP also revealed that there will be three different version of Halo 3 (how numerically appropriate): standard, collector's edition, and the "one SKU to rule them all" Legendary edition. Their 3-week love fest with Bungie's latest begins next week.

Microsoft’s iPod-rivalling Zune digital media player – still rumoured to eventually include games capabilities – won’t launch in the UK until at least the end of 2007, a year after the US launch.
Although the device is on track for release in the US on November 17th, it will miss the lucrative Christmas market in the UK and Europe this year and possibly next. One reason for the delay is reported to be that Microsoft has had no one to head up a UK and European launch – however the recently appointed head of Zune International will be building relationships in those areas. “They will be working on rolling out the Zune in the UK and Europe with its compatible Zune Market place,” said Dene Schonknecht, media and entertainment alliance manager at Microsoft. “We haven’t yet selected a music store provider to build marketplace in the UK, which means we’re way off launch.”

Team Xecuter has posted this news:
It's been a while since we posted news of the Blaster360 as we have been extremely busy with the enormous success of the X360 USB.
The final external design has been completed and the tooling for the moulds are rolling out of the factory this week.
We had to redsign a few of the internals to make sure this device was 100% reliable so a Digital Sata Exchange Switch is now used to give optimum performance. We've attached a picture to give you an idea of what the messy insides look like
Another Recap of what this product is:
The Xecuter Blaster360 is an external switching device when, once fitted, allows you to flash your DVD Firmware without ever having to open up your Xbox 360 case ever again. In the era of constant firmware updates (I think there have been 22 so far?) this is an absolutley essential tool saving both time and effort, making the firmware update process a walk in the park.
Some questions answered...
1. Once fitted the device allows you to switch your DVD to flashing mode and to be flashed externally without ever having to open up your Xbox360 cases again.
2. It has a seperate molex power connector. This is for electrical safety and security. It resolves any short or grounding issues and keeps the Xbox360 PSU and any external flashing procedure seperate.
3. It has a switch to switch between normal 360 read operation and PC flashing operation.
4. There is a Modeb switch for Hitachi drives
5. You can connect direct to SATA or use the X360USB
6. There is no cutting of any of the outer case whatsoever - it is a clean install with no visible damage.
7. We have included a switch to disable the LED glow or to disable the LED alltogether (for those that don't like LED's)
8. We have optimized the design so it fits flush to the case and so you can also remove the hard drive with ease.

Source: Scans of Swedish gaming magazine LEVEL, partially translated by a poster on Gaming Age Forums.
What we heard: Last week, Bungie mentioned in its weekly update that it had shown off early builds of Halo 3 to a variety of gaming press outlets and that magazine articles on the visit would start hitting mailboxes shortly.
It appears that Swedish mailboxes are plum stuffed with Halo 3 news, as purported scans of the latest issue of LEVEL have hit the Internet with gobs of info about Bungie's highly anticipated first-person shooter. The multiplayer-focused sneak peek dished out details on new weapons, vehicles, and features for the game, some of it expected, some not so much.
First, the bad news for hermitic gamers: According to the magazine article, Halo 3 won't have bots. If Halo 2 is any indicator, there shouldn't be any shortage of human opponents to frag online, but antisocial players or those who tire of powergaming play styles won't be able to fake their multiplayer fix. According to a translation on GAF, LEVEL quotes a Bungie rep as explaining that the developers would rather spend that time working on the weapons, levels, and netcode for the game.
Speaking of weapons, Halo 3 will apparently feature a few new ways to off opponents. The Spartan Laser should help players open up vehicles like so many sardine cans, while the self-explanatory nail grenade should be a real hit at parties. There's also a Brute spiker to play with.
As for new vehicles, the Mongoose ATV that was once intended for Halo 2 will be available. Although it lacks firepower of any kind, the Mongoose seats two and should be good for getting Spartans where they need to be ASAP. And while it isn't quite a vehicle, the "Man Cannon" will launch players across the map unprotected on air streams. Gamers launched by the cannon will be vulnerable to enemy fire, but they'll also be able to fire back.
Bungie's also switching up some of the familiar Halo gameplay, according to the scans. For one thing, the X button will no longer reload. Instead, players will use the left and right bumpers on the Xbox 360 controller to independently reload their primary and secondary weapons. As for what the X button will do, Bungie is keeping that under wraps for now. In another tweak, players' secondary weapons will be visibly slung over their backs at all times, so players will no longer be able to conceal the fact that they're carrying around four-foot plasma swords in their pockets.
Finally, the scan indicates that the limited-edition release of Halo 3 will be called the "Legendary Edition" and will come packed in a replica of the Master Chief's helmet. The four-disc set will include the game, documentaries and developer interviews, Red vs. Blue content along with other Halo tie-ins, and HD cutscenes from the whole Halo trilogy.
The official story: Microsoft isn't talking, but Bungie today put up a news post acknowledging that magazine scans with new Halo 3 content had started hitting the Web and threatening a permanent ban for anyone posting them on the company's forums.
Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus, although we hope the term "Man Cannon" is the result of a translation error.

October 27th, 2006, 19:40 Posted By: wraggster
Microsoft CFO Chris Liddell has said that the company is doing "better than we hoped" after the company's Entertainment and Devices division posted a 70 per cent rise in revenues.
During the three months ending September 30, Microsoft's overall revenues rose by 11 per cent to hit USD 10.81 billion (EUR 8.53 billion). Operating income was also up by 11 per cent at USD 4.47 billion (EUR 3.53 billion), and net quarterly income stood at USD 3.48 billion (EUR 2.75 billion) - the equivalent to USD 0.35 (EUR 0.28) per share.
Revenues for the E&D division were up from USD 606 million (EUR 478 million) a year previously to USD 1.03 billion (EUR 813 million), which Microsoft attributed to a high demand for Xbox 360 consoles, software and peripherals plus the Xbox Live service.
A total of six million Xbox 360 units have now been sold - 3.6 million in North America, 1.7 million in Europe and around 700,000 in the rest of the world. Record cumulative attach rates for software and peripherals have been achieved in the US, and there are now more than 4 million users of Xbox Live.
However, the E&D division still made an operating loss of USD 96 million (EUR 75.8 million) - down from USD 173 million (EUR 137 million) during the same period last year, when the Xbox 360 had yet to go on sale.
Commenting on the recent reduction in manufacturing costs for the 360 during a conference call, Liddell said, "We are seeing lower cost per console... we're doing slightly better than we hoped for." He added that Microsoft expects the console to be "cost neutral over the console's life".
Microsoft forecasts that 10 million Xbox 360 units will have been sold by the end of 2006, by which time console owners will have a catalogue of 160 games to choose from.
"We believe that the functionality of the Xbox 360 console, games portfolio, and online offerings are well-positioned relative to forthcoming competitive consoles," the company said in a statement.
"We also believe launching in advance of competing consoles will provide a strategic advantage for the long-term success of Xbox 360."

October 27th, 2006, 19:39 Posted By: wraggster
EA has officially opened the doors to its new Chicago studio, confirming that three titles are already in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Only one of these has been named so far - Def Jam: Icon, a new instalment in the popular series of fighting games. EA would only confirm that one of the other titles is a licensed game, and the other is an additional fighter based on new intellectual property.
Kudo Tsunoda will take on the role of vice present and general manager at EA Chicago, which is based downtown. Many of the studio's 150 staff previously worked on the Fight Night boxing games, and a further 100 employees will be hired over the course of the next year.
"We are pushing next-generation development and technology to the limits and looking for the best talent to help us to create innovative games," Tsunoda said.

Ubisoft's stunning urban warfare simulator has scooped the Editors' gong at this year's Golden Joystick Awards.
Released a few months after Xbox 360, Advanced Warfighter was one of the first games to truly demonstrate the capabilities of the next-gen machine.
And with its gritty realism, intense atmosphere and over-the-shoulder cam, it has to be one of the most absorbing war games in recent years. It got us playing our 360's, that's for sure.
So that's your cue, Ubisoft - get that sequel out. QUICK!

The service has proved a big hit among gamers and T3 readers who voted for it to snatch the Innovation gong. Recently Marketplace has seen download content such as Tony Hawk's Project 8 and Rainbow Six Vegas demos, Lumines Live! and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and various videos and extras reach its servers.

This may be painfully obvious once you think about it, but for those who haven't, here's a way to get around the Xbox 360 country lock for downloadable content. Microsoft's chosen to disable certain game demos and game videos for people of certain regions, but we want all our media to be free, don't we?
Go online to xbox.com and register a new gamertag with an email address not associated with any previous account. Then make sure you set your country to either Japan or America—perhaps making one tag for each. Then when that's done, go on your Xbox 360 and choose "recover gamertag" to grab the info from this tag onto your 360. Now you can see all the Japanese games you've been missing out on.

After posting on his blog that the new Gears of War promotional ad would only be downloadable by Xbox Live Gold members, Major 'Larry Unpronounceable Last Name' Nelson went on to clarify in the comments:
So here is the deal..Silver members WILL get access to this..probably in about a week. This is going to happen more and more (Gold getting things before Silver) so you may want to think about upgrading if you want all the latest and greatest trailers, demos etc. Right! Because why should Microsoft market to you for free when they can get you to pay them to market to you? Mark my words: demos and trailers costing Live points is just around the corner.

Further filling out Xbox 360's ranks of terrorist-clobbering military shooters, the creator of Oblivion will be bringing gun-fest Rogue Warrior to the console next year, reports Official Xbox 360 Magazine.
Hold those 'Counter-Strike meets Oblivion' thoughts, though, because the grunt-work on the game is being done by developer Zombie, not the RPG bods at Bethesda that we know and love. However, there's still a touch of that one-million-hours-of-play spirit in Rogue Warrior's Live multiplayer aspect - its 24-player shootouts can take place in hybrid levels with over 200 possible combinations.
At the start of a match, both teams choose their favourite chunk of level, while a third is picked at random to be plonked in with them in the final environment - so even veteran players won't know quite what they're getting into.
We'll have more on Rogue Warrior when the official media blitz is deployed next week.

Epic's Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War is finished and should ship to US retailers on 7th November. "Waaaait-a-second," you say, "wasn't it down for the 12th?"
Well, the 12th is Emergence Day, Microsoft has been explaining, when it will be staging all sorts of celebratory events, but in actual fact the game ought to be on the shelves of some retailers as soon as the 8th, which is handy.
It's due out over here on the 17th - and it'll be interesting to see whether retailers break the street date, as sometimes happen in these situations.
In the meantime, our American friends will be enjoying an Emergence Day packed with activity, including a 24-hour Gears tournament on the 12th, with the winner receiving a Gears-branded guitar and a pass into the finals of the forthcoming "Global Gears of War Tournament", due to take place in 2007.
There'll also be sweepstakes and an exclusive free Gears of War gamer pic and theme only available on 12th November, while Megadeth and CliffyB will be hopping onto Live to take people on, too.
What a mad world. Mad World, incidentally, is also the accompaniment to a rather interesting new Gears of War trailer, which you ought to be able to find on Xbox Live Marketplace.

October 26th, 2006, 17:55 Posted By: wraggster
FIFA, Xbox and EA Sports have revealed that the third FIFA Interactive World Cup - the footy tournament for gamers - will be kicking off this weekend in HMV Stores and on Xbox Live.
You can register for the tournament qualifiers on Xbox Live from November 1st, or simply turn up to any of the Oxford Circus, Manchester, Leeds Headrow, Glasgow, Birmingham High St or Cardiff HMV stores on either Friday 27t or Saturday October 28.
Local winners from the qualifier events will then progress to the grand final on Decmber 9 in Amsterdam, where 128 FIFA wizards will battle it out for the grand prize trip to the FIFA World Player Gala in Zurich and a cool cash prize of $20,000 (around £10,600).
Last year, Xbox Live entrant Chris Bullard from Ipswich defeated Gabor Mokos of Kecskemét, Hungary in a button-mashing final at London's Brewery.
You can find out more info on the tournament at FIFA.com. Potential entrants can brush up their skills via the Xbox Live marketplace demo.

Microsoft and Epic Games have revealed that the Xbox 360 flagship shooter, Gears of War has gone gold, with a new cinematic trailer and launch events planned for its Emergence Day on Xbox Live.
The Xbox 360 online service will celebrate Gears' November 12 US release date with 24 hours of events, including hourly sweepstakes for HD tellies, an exclusive Gears of War theme and gamerpic, a special Emergence Day video from Mr. Cliffy B and a 24-hour leaderboard tournament where the winner swags - get this - a special Gears of War guitar. Rock on!
As far as us in poor old blighty are concerned, it looks like we're going to have to wait for official word from Microsoft's UK operation, which was unfortunately unavailable for comment when we picked up the CVG bat-phone.
Oh, and a word of warning before you watch the new trailer; you might want to grab a hanky - it's quite sad.

The Zune patent filing originally explained a DJ Wi-Fi feature where one person could DJ for up to four other Zune users via the Wi-Fi. That idea has since been canned according to Cesar Menendez. Menendez doesn't state specifically the reason that the DJ feature was removed, but many Zunenites out there are suspecting a Wi-Fi battery issue may be the culprit.

Originally scheduled for release this fall, the Dance Dance Revolution series debut on the Xbox 360 was pushed back into a holiday 2006-early 2007 release. Now it's solidly in the 2007 camp, as a Konami representative told GameSpot today the game definitely won't be out this year. The reason given for the delay was that the process of complying with Microsoft's protocols for third-party peripherals was proving more time consuming than originally expected.
DDR Universe will feature enhanced versions of the series' familiar edit, workout, quest, and party modes, as well as the new "how to play," trial, and supereasy modes, each of which is designed to make the fast-and-furious rhythm action more accessible for first timers. The game will also introduce the new relay mode, which invites groups of players to tag team the dance mat for some extended marathon dance sessions.
Like the DDR Ultramix games for the original Xbox, DDR Universe will feature Xbox Live support for online competitions and 360-exclusive downloadable song packs. Konami's representative told GameSpot that DDR Universe's dance pads will be wired but would not rule out the possibility of future DDR games on the Xbox 360 featuring wireless mats.

The Xbox 360 has become the fastest-selling console in Australia, shifting over 100,000 units since its release in March this year.
The previous record was held by Sony, with the PlayStation 2 selling 78,000 units during its first seven months on sale.
"Our figures show that Xbox 360 has been the fastest ever console to sell 100,000 units in Australia, reaching that mark in just seven months," said Daniel Morse, senior account manager at GfK Australia.
With software sales amounting to 400,000 according to GfK, the 360 continues its strong performance in the region, where it also became the fastest-selling console at launch, selling over 30,000 units in just four days.

Just in case you didn't get the idea when it said so in the first game's end sequence and 3D Realms' Scott Miller mentioned it in August, there's yet more chatter about a sequel to Prey.
Noting that the game sold more than one million units worldwide in its first two months, Miller has updated again rather more explicitly: "There will be a sequel," he writes, "and we think we have a interesting follow-up story to tell and some all-new innovations to bring new excitement to the table."
The first Prey, released on PC and Xbox 360 earlier this year, saw Native American Tommy forced to try and rescue his family from the clutch of some nasty aliens, and introduced some neat perspective-shifting technology that won a few plaudits.
