Microsoft is bringing the Zune Pass service to Xbox Live in the UK this autumn, offering unlimited music downloads for a £8.99 per month subscription fee.
The Zune Marketplace online store will also be available on Windows-based PCs and Windows Phone 7, with music playable on any MP3 compatible device. Music videos bought via the service will only work on Windows compatible devices and Xbox Live.
"The integration between Zune, Windows Phone 7 and Xbox Live is an exciting advance in our entertainment offering," said Craig Eisler, VP of Interactive Entertainment for Microsoft.
"Zune enables users access to the entertainment they want, wherever they want it - and now, more people than ever will be able to enjoy the freedom and flexibility that the Zune service offers."
Zune Marketplace will also offer moves to rent and watch via PC and Windows Phone, and to download and buy, compatible with PC, Xbox Live and Windows Phone.
Music labels signed up to the service include Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Music and Warner Music Group, as well as "thousands" of independent labels.
Movie companies already committed to the service include NBC Universal, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Bros. Digital.
