Microsoft will face an uphill battle meeting demand for Xbox One amidst 'unprecedented' pre-order numbers, according to its corporate VP Phil Harrison.
Xbox One's launch "will be a significantly bigger than 360," Harrison toldGames Industry.
Harrison held off sharing exact figures, but went on to say that "pre-orders have been unprecedented, and the supply that we are bringing in to the market in addition to the pre-orders will mean that by far and away it's our biggest launch ever."
Despite its best efforts, the firm expects its new console to be hard to come by in the lead up to Christmas.
"We're working unbelievably hard to match demand," said Harrison. "I can only apologise in advance to anybody who is let down before Christmas, we don't want to lose a sale, clearly, and we'll work hard in our operations and our manufacturing supply chain and obviously with our retail partners to make sure we catch up as quickly as we can."
In our Xbox One review, we called it "a platform that has laid foundations that it can build on for a whole generation", while calling the new Kinect sensor "the single most impressive element of the Xbox One system at launch".
Xbox One launches in US and Europe on Friday.
