Microsoft’s premium game pad for the Xbox One has almost sold out at retail.
The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller was released last week, costing £120, and includes a range of customisation options and additional features for gamers looking to tweak their playing experience.
At over double the standard Xbox One pad’s RRP (£49.99), it might seem that the Elite would be more of a hard sell for most consumers.
But that appears to be not the case as, just over one week after launch, Microsoft has told GamesBeat that the peripheral has almost sold out completely in the US, with shelves at Microsoft’s own store, Amazon, Walmart, Target, Best Buy and GameStop all bare.
The platform holder confirmed to Polygon that the case was similar around the world.
Extra stock will arrive at retailers over the coming weeks, but the spokesperson added that supply will likely run short until the start of December.
The Elite controller will be available from November 3rd as part of the new Xbox One Elite Bundle, however. The £400 SKU includes a 1TB Xbox One machine, plus the titular pad.
