Microsoft has confirmed the next round of free games that Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download in August.
Firstly, from August 1 until August 15, paid subscribers can download the acclaimed Crackdown for free. This open-world action game from the now-defunct Realtime Worlds was described as 'Grand Theft Auto with superheroes' when it was released back in February 2007. Then, from August 16 to August 31, both Dead Rising 2 and its prequelDead Rising 2: Case Zero will be available for free.
Dead Rising 2 was released in September 2010 and was praised for its constant action and the numerous ways players could dispose of its never-ending zombie horde.
In June, Microsoft announced the 'Games with Gold' bonus system for Xbox Live members - a service that rivals Sony's PlayStation Plus in terms of benefits for paid subscribers.
Once downloaded for free, customers keep the games forever, whether or not they unsubscribe from Gold or the offer period expires.
The current game for Gold members is Assassin's Creed II, but it will only remain free until the end of today (July 31).
