It has taken a while, but at last, those Xbox 360 shortages appear to be a thing of past. Microsoft has announced that, starting this week, it will begin to distribute two to three times as many Xbox 360s to the retail channel on a weekly basis.
Naturally, the company's Peter Moore - now revelling in the impossibly arcane job title "corporate vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business in the Entertainment and Devices Division" - could not contain his excitement: "Today we have turned a major corner. With more consoles on their way to retail, 80 games available by June, and new content and experiences coming to Xbox Live all the time, there has never been a better time to own an Xbox 360."
Microsoft also announced that new downloadable content is coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace, namely new cars and achievements for Project Gotham Racing 3, and multiplayer maps for Perfect Dark: Zero. And, the Seattle giant says, Kameo: elements of Power is about to acquire "new online cooperative gameplay options", while Kameo and her cohorts will be able to swan in new costumes available via the Xbox Live Marketplace. Another goodie due to make an appearance soon on Marketplace is the Horse Armour Pack for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Personally, we'd never dream of mounting a virtual horse unless it was heavily armoured.
Finally, Microsoft has pointed out that the Xbox Live Marketplace will soon be augmented by the games Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Uno and the free full version of Riverbelle's Texas Hold 'Em Poker. Can't wait.
