Virgin Gaming reveals $1.6m Battlefield 3 tournament

Virgin Gaming has teamed up with EA for the most lucrative tournament so far.
The firms are offering $1.6m to the winner of the Battlefield 3 Worldwide Conquest Tournament, which kicks off from next year. It will culminate in a live grand finale.
You can read more about it at www.Battlefieldmillions.com, and it sees EA offer a tournament rival to Call of Duty Elite, which also has a competitive gaming element with real life prizes.
“We’re always looking to raise the bar for our members, to give them truly epic gaming experiences they won’t find anywhere else and Battlefield 3 hits the mark,” said Virgin Gaming co-founder Zachary Zeldin.
“This partnership with EA and DICE is exactly the kind of relationship it takes to deliver on that goal, and we can’t be more excited to be working with them to host the greatest competitive gaming event I’ve ever seen.”
General manager at developer DICE, Karl Magnus Troedsson, added: “The Battlefield series has always been a very social experience with its best-in-class multiplayer gameplay and we’re honored to have such passionate and loyal fans.
