Microsoft has revealed more sales data during its keynote speech at Tokyo Game Show, revealing that sales of the Xbox 360 system have jumped 62 per cent since the latest round of price cuts.
All three 360 SKUs – Arcade, Premium and Elite – were reduced in price last month, with the Arcade console now the cheapest current gen hardware on the market.
According to John Schappert, corporate vice president of software and services for Xbox, sales of the system in Japan have increased five-fold year-on-year.
He added that sales of software created by Japanese developers for the console were up 60 per cent accounting for USD 811 million, and the company expects that number to grow to USD 1 billion by the end of the year.
"By the end of this holiday, we estimated total worldwide sales of Japanese games will top USD 1 billion on Xbox 360," he told the audience in Tokyo.
