Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has said that global sales of Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will exceed USD 500 million (EUR 336.9m / GBP 304.2m) in its first week on sale.
The analyst expects the highly-anticipated game will "easily" sell over 10 million units in the fourth quarter. The original Modern Warfare title sold 7 million copies in Q4 2008.
Back in June this year, Janco Partners' Mike Hickey suggested the game could sell 11.1 million units during the fourth quarter.
Expectations are high for the title - to be released next week worldwide - with US retailer GameStop suggesting it could be the best-selling game of all time.
Pachter said Activision could also sell between 12 – 16 million Blizzard PC games next year, when it releases the sequel Starcraft II. The publisher will announce its financial results for the third quarter on November 5, with Wedbush expecting revenue to reach USD 760 million (EUR 512.09m / GBP 462.5m).
