The release of Halo 4 next Tuesday is “set to make entertainment history”, according to Microsoft.
It cites sources saying that the game’s release could be “the biggest entertainment event of 2012”.
Over 10,000 retailers across 40 countries will open their doors at midnight on Monday night to welcome the release of the new Xbox 360 shooter, which is likely the final appearance from the Master Chief on Microsoft’s current hardware.
Major launch events are planned in 30 cities including London, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney, Berlin, Seattle, Tokyo, Toronto, Singapore and Hong Kong.
London’s event “will host a spectacular stunt” on the River Thames between Greenwich Peninsula and Tower Bridge. Punters are invited to head over to the Design Museum in Butlers Wharf (London SE1 2YD) “no later than” 7:30pm.
Around 350 midnight openings are expected to take place across the UK, with GAME’s flagship Stratford store hosting the official launch event. Developers from 343 Industries and The Gadget Show’s Jason Bradbury will be in attendance and prizes will be on offer – as well as a life-sized replica Warthog.
A free bus will offer transit from the Design Museum to GAME Stratford, though spaces are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
