Microsoft's Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson, has defended the Xbox One against the accusation that its development was rushed.
"The Xbox One program has been in development for years, so calling it 'rushed' is incorrect," he posted onReddit, during discussions about the console launching without support for external storage.
"Did we have a few challenges between May and August? Sure. But we are working on our own schedule - not any one else's. At Gamescom, every game in the Xbox booth was running on final Xbox One hardware. Every. Single. One. That would paint a very different take on the being 'rushed.'"
While Sony has announced the release dates for the PlayStation 4, Microsoft has yet to commit, leading industry figureheads like EA's Peter Moore to comment that they need to "cough up the date."
Industry sources currently suggest that the Xbox One will go on sale a week before the PlayStation 4. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/article...e-wasnt-rushed
