The UK games market made £13.4m last week.
That's a rise of 19 per cent over the week before, but it's still a relatively low figure. The games market has struggled for momentum since the start of the year. All data is courtesy of UKIE/GfK Chart-Track.
In total 506,625 games were sold from UK stores last week, driven by a number of new releases, with Gears of War: Judgment comfortably the biggest selling.
However, as already reported, the Microsoft IP's sales were significantly down on previous entries in the series.
Other games that boosted the market included The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, which performed well despite its poor review scores, and Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate. Monster Hunter 3 accounted for almost half of all Wii U software revenue last week.
FIFA 13, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance all saw sales increases last week.
Next week's sales performance will hopefully be another improvement. There's actually a surprising amount of new releases, with yesterday's BioShock: Infinite the biggest title. Other new games set for release includes LEGO City Undercover, Luigi's Mansion 2, Tiger Woods 14, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel.
