Microsoft's 'Games with Gold' initiative will make the jump to Xbox One in 2014, the firm has announced.
"Great news: Access to free games each month is coming for Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One," revealed Microsoft's Larry Hryb via Twitter. "Details coming later in 2014," he added.
Games with Gold, currently an Xbox 360-only program, is Microsoft's answer to PlayStation's widely praised Instant Game Collection, offering two titles for free to Gold subscribers each month. Games downloaded during their free period remain available to the user for good, even if their Gold subscription expires.
Games offered through the service so far include Fable 3, Defense Grid: The Awakening, Assassin's Creed 2, Crackdown, Dead Rising 2 and DR2 prologue Case Zero, Magic 2013, Rainbow Six Vegas, Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes and more recently Halo 3.
The Games with Gold program was originally announced at E3 in Juneas a limited-time promotion, but Microsoft later announced its decision to make it "an ongoing benefit" for Gold subscribers.
Microsoft has confirmed an Xbox One release date of November 22, 2013 in 13 markets. The Xbox One price has been set at £430 / €500 / $500.
