The manic Christmas sales period will blast off with Far Cry 3 on September 7th.
Publisher Ubisoft is confident the 360, PS3 and PC FPS will raise the bar for the genre and offer something different to other shooters due in the following weeks, such as Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Black Ops II.
Far Cry 3 was first unveiled at E3 2011, and Ubisoft re-announced the title in February, with several cover features and previews in specialist magazines.
“The re-announce in February was well received, the marketing campaign is significant and we expect this to be the first triple-A title of the traditionally busy run-up to Christmas,” Ubi’s head of brand marketing Mark Slaughter told MCV.
Brand manager Louise Marchant added: “We are rolling out a substantial multi-phase marketing campaign, making the most of the stunning visuals and engaging storyline
“You’ll be seeing a lot more in the next few weeks, as we head towards E3 and into the summer.
“Far Cry has always offered something different to other shooters – and no army camouflage or space marines in sight.”
