Assassin's Creed 3 may be the fifth core entry in the series in just six years, but it seems even fans calling for the franchise to take a break have been won round by the upcoming title's new direction. With a fresh hero and a new setting, Ubisoft's US arm said today that AC3 is on track to become the most pre-ordered game in the publisher's history. After only three weeks of being available for pre-order in the US, AC3 pre-orders are higher than any previous AC game in the same time period, and more than ten times greater than they were for last year's AC Revelations in the same timeframe. Ubisoft senior VP of sales and marketing Tony Key said: "On October 30th players will experience the biggest game launch in Ubisoft's history with the highly anticipated release of Assassins Creed III. "With a development cycle of three years, Assassins Creed III is the true next-generation experience of the Assassins Creed brand. The production value of the game, combined with the biggest marketing commitment we've ever made, will make Assassins Creed III the highest-selling Assassin's Creed game ever. "Additionally, the new setting and hero makes this the perfect time to jump into the series for anyone that has not previously played an Assassin's Creed game." Earlier this week we published our first Assassin's Creed 3 preview, as well as a pair of video interviews with creative director Alex Hutchinson and senior producer Francois Pelland.
