Warner Bros’ next instalment in its Batman Arkham series will be a prequel featuring several of DC’s biggest superhero characters, a new report claims. Variety claims that the game, which will be set before both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City and will feature a selection of stars from a pool including Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the Flash.
The story will centre on Batman’s first encounter with the Joker and draw heavily from DC’s ‘50s comic book series that saw the formation of the Justice League of America.
Variety adds that Arkham Asylum sold in the region of 4.3m units and Arkham City over 6m.
It speculates that the title would likely have a 2014 release date “at the earliest”. Warner will prior to that release DC title Injustice: Gods Amongst Us.
The company is currently focusing plenty of internal resource toward the Justice League canon, what with the success Warner has been enjoying recently with the Avengers.
A Justice League film is due out in 2015. A new line of LEGO toys has recently hit retail featuring an array of DC’s biggest characters. The Dark Knight Rises hits cinemas later this month and a Superman reboot will arrive next summer.
